SIMPLICITY

Simplicity brings aesthetic quality. Bikes in cities need to be at least as simple as cars. A city bike needs to be simple to use, convenient, and pleasing to the eye. Fewer parts and attachments reduce weight, cost, and maintenance.

DURABILITY

Durable bike design goes a long way to keeping the bike away from the mechanic. Simplifying the bike design with fewer parts is the first step.

VISIBILITY

If it’s beautiful it will be more noticeable. The key thing about visibility is getting noticed and designing something awesome that makes people’s heads turn with envy.

INTEGRATION

This might be the most important principle. Bike parts need to work properly together and for the specific application of that particular bike design.
